Fetishism is the devotion to objects, which in ancient times were attributed magical powers and worshipped religiously. Idols, amulets… anything that could be worshipped. Then one glorious day, Sigmund Freud came along and told us that there were people who were sexually aroused by certain objects. All it took was for it to remind us of some situation or person that had marked us sexually, like a teacher’s heels or a classmate’s sneakers.
And from there everything became more complicated until present day, in which many sexual practices that have some aesthetics or special paraphernalia are considered fetishistic. However, BDSM is the one that always comes to our minds because of the whips, latex, leather, chains…
